A Spoonbill Song

a singing spoonbill

Swoosh, swish, scoop! Swoosh, swish, scoop! I’m a spoonbill searching for a cozy little group! With my bright yellow bill and my long pink legs, I splash in the water and I never have to beg! With a swoosh, swish, scoop!

I don't peck seeds and I don't catch flies, I wade through the muddy pond under blue skies! I open up my spoon and I sweep it left and right, Catching tiny little shrimp for a crunchy little bite!

Some birds sing with a tweet-tweet-tweet, But I make music with my muddy little feet! I clack my beak with a *clack-clack-clack,*

  • splash in the shallows till I’m ready for a nap!*

So sweep to the left, and scoop to the right, Sing the spoonbill song till the stars come out tonight! Clack, clack, swoosh... goodnight!
